[dropcap1]I[/dropcap1] have been an avid Nokia user since I got my first mobile phone (a very durable and sturdy Nokia 3315). I liked its simplicity and user friendly interface. My first high end phone is a Nokia 6600 classic then upgraded to N70 as my first smart phone. Now, I am using an E-Series (E63) handset to meet the demands of being connected while on the move. However this article is not about my mobile device evolution but for somethin’ else.
To all Nokia lovers out there, I am sure you might have been frustrated about the newer models released in the past couple of years. Yes, it is packed with features yet undoubtedly lacking in style. Today’s generation opt for something stylish and head-turning when it comes to mobile devices especially those who are young and, well, young at heart. And then comes the iPhone with its touch screen, cool apps and what not. Blackberry is also one of the people’s choices because of its “class”. HTC is gaining as well as Samsung on the other lane. Wait a minute! Where is Nokia? Oh, there it is! Thriving hard to get back on track!
But despite of being left behind with style and design, there is still one field that Nokia is very good at – the price. As a person who goes for value for money instead of style, this is probably the reason why I don’t intend to use another brand (yeah, yeah… call me stingy. 😛 ). But wait, there’s more! This Fin mobile giant has something in it’s sleeve waiting to go public. In addition to its new line up of devices such as the E5, C3, X series and of course, N900, 4 new models will soon be released and will hopefully put Nokia back on track. With no further ado, presenting the newest candidates:

C6 –

It has an 5-megapixel camera and what Nokia dubs its “clearblack” display, touted as offering improved outdoor visibility and better colour reproduction. You can personalize the home screen with widgets that provides live updates from any social networkingsites. The devices also comes with a full QWERTY keyboard aside from its touch screen interface to provide more typing efficiency.

C7 –
[singlepic id=76 w=220 h=140 float=left]The C7 is very similar with the C6 but the its screen is 0.3 inches bigger at 3.5-inch and the C7 is slimmer and offers more internal memory. Another difference with C6 is its 8MP camera, full touch glass display and stainless steel casing.

It offers Microsoft Exchange support for corporate email and the ability to view and edit documents and spreadsheets. The handset can also shoot 720p video, has a HDMI output and 16GB of storage space. A beautiful, innovative design with everything you need to keep your work and personal lives in sync.

N8 –
[singlepic id=79 w=220 h=140 float=left]The N8 is an entertainment-oriented smartphone with a 3.5-inch touchscreen (640×360 resolution), a 12-megapixel camera, the ability to shoot 720p high definition videos and 16GB of onboard memory, which can be expanded by an extra 32GB using the memory card slot. The N8 supports Adobe Flash and multitasking. It includes an HDMI output for hooking it up to a flatscreen TV set and is capable of outputting Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound.

Gitex is coming again here in Dubai this October so hopefully Nokia will participate and display these new babies so that I can do some test drives. With these new handsets to look forward to, Nokia seems to be on the “fightback” mode.
