[dropcap2]O[/dropcap2]kay, so I have finally seen the trailer of the movie, Tekken – the famous fighting video game introduced by Namco as an arcade game in the late 1994 and on PlayStation in 1995 (and also the game I became addicted to after Mortal Kombat 😛 ). It looks promising to me considering that they have decided to include new characters such as Raven, Steve Fox, Dragonov and of course, the hot Christie Monteiro with her skills in Capoeira. Not to mention that Heihachi Mishima will be played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, one of my favorite actors in a villain role who also played the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat the movie.
The film follows Jin Kazama in his attempts to enter the Iron Fist Tournament in order to avenge the loss of his mother, Jun Kazama, by confronting his father, Kazuya Mishima and his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima (whew, too much of a family fued ), the latter of whom he thought was responsible for his mother’s death. It seems like they summarized the storyline since Jin entered the game in Tekken 3 (video game) up to Tekken 5 (The king of Iron First).
However, I saw this one flaw based from the trailer. Why did Christie ended up as Jin’s love interest, well in fact she is Eddie Gordo’s partner and based from the video game story line, they (Jin and Christie)haven’t really got close since Jin’s focus is to bring down Mishima Zaibatsu?
Well, I guess they have their own reason for doing so and perhaps a little twist won’t be that bad. Let’s just hope that it will not end up in the pit of crap video game-turned-to-movie such as Dragon Ball, The Legend of Chun Li, and the worst of all, Doom (my opinion :-P).
The movie is scheduled to be released on August 5, 2010 in the USA and sometime in September in Russia. I do not have info yet on when it will be released in the Philippines or here in the Middle East. If you happen to know please inform me so I can mark my calendar.
